Youth Programs

The Paseo Project works with community partners to provide educational programming year round, sharing the inspiration and exploration of the art making process to kids, teens, and adults.

Our Youth Programs bring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in the classroom – enhanced through the creative processes of local and visiting Paseo artists. 

  • Jemila MacEwan AIR 23 Workshop Series

    The Paseo Project is pleased to present Sun Seeds. A community project celebrating the forces of nature that shape our environment and sustain life. Elements like the New Mexico sun and wind.

    Join environmental interdisciplinary artist Jemila MacEwan in building, exploring and creating a joyous celebration of kites that intends to light up the natural landscape and experience a tangible physical relationship between nature and human impact.

  • Invent Event 2023

    Join The Paseo Project at Invent Event, April 22, noon to 4pm at the Enos Garcia Gym. We will have two booths to explore the inner child in all of us.

    We’re bringing Weird Bird Music to the event with a Silent Disco for all ages. Enjoy music and dancing!

  • Taos Cyber Magnet STEAM series

    This four week series explores the process of art making through Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. In the spring of 2023 the students at Taos Cyber Magnet will have the opportunity to work with Paseo staff and artists exposing them to robotics, STEAM skills, as well as contemporary art practices. Artists include: Nina Lutz, and more. In collaboration with Twirl Taos.

  • Adobe for Kids

    As a part of our August Artist in Residence, Joanna Keane Lopez, the Paseo Project hosted an “Adobe for Kids” workshop at the Children’s Museum downtown. On Saturday, August 6th, kids from the community were invited to come and get muddy! Sharing the traditional steps for building with mud, youth mixed, formed mini bricks and built fantasy constructions.

  • Apprenticeship Program with CHiKA

    July 2022: Working as part of a small and efficient team, three youth, ages 16 - 24 gained invaluable insight into the day-to-day workings of visiting artist, CHiKA. In addition to working on a meaningful and engaging project with the artist, interns worked closely with CHiKA engage in the research and development of installations, working on logistical and technical aspects of putting together a cutting edge digital project.

  • Motomichi Workshop

    On Thursday, June 2nd True Kids 1 hosted a Projection Mapping Workshop with Visiting artist Motomichi. Eight youth, ages 12 - 18 participated. Students learned the fundamentals of projection mapping, learning software, hardware, and projection techniques. The workshop culminated in their own projection mapping designs!

  • Youth Voice Project

    During the 2022 Spring Out, youth artists ages 12-18 presented Dance and spoken word inspired by art. In a world of adults, young peoples voices are often lost. The Youth Voice Project seeks to empower youth voices and give them a platform to express their unique perspectives through dance and poetry. What Stories will we hear when we listen? How will we see the world from their eyes? Watch, listen, and learn from these talented young artists who are learning to tap into the power of their creativity to speak their truths.

  • Electrofunk: Nettrice Gaskins

    This student projection piece was the result of a STEMartsLab in August 2015. Projected upon the Luna Chapel, at the Couse Sharp Historic Site. Electrofunk: A Virtual Sounding Space interactive environment was a pre-Paseo pop-up facilitated by Nettrice Gaskins in collaboration with local Schools: Taos Academy/Oo-oo nah Art Center, Taos Pueblo: Ongoing

  • Invent Event 2019

    Paseo Project was excited to join the Twirl Team at the 2019 Invent Event with a demonstration booth highlighting art in three dimensions. Our 3D pens were warmed up and ready to play encouraging the young and old alike to explore their ideas in multiple dimensions.
